M.O.P.'s Billy Danze Critical Of Brooklyn Nets Stadium Construction, Cautions There Will Be Crime Spike
The veteran Brooklyn emcee says that Jay-Z and the Nets have no business moving their arena to a ghetto, and fans can expect the local residents to mash out. He also vows to not attend games.
Brooklyn, New York's M.O.P. (a/k/a Mash Out Posse) has always been known for their loyal representation of the borough. In a recent interview with KevinNottingham.com, M.O.P.'s Billy Danze was critical of the New Jersey Nets' relocation to Brooklyn."Where [the Nets are] putting that stadium, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but somebody is gonna get the shit robbed out of them. They know they ain't got no business fucking around in that ghetto," said the veteran emcee known for his yelling delivery. "You can’t put all that money in a place where niggas are starving and not expect shit to pop off. It’s like, you’re gonna come over here and wave your big bag of money around and tell me I can’t have it? Nah, ain't gonna happen, B." A sports fan, Danz added, "I hope it works out, but you will not see me attending any games."
The New Jersey Nets' move to Brooklyn has been spearheaded by Jay-Z, a part owner in the NBA franchise. Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records had signed M.O.P. in the early '00s, though the duo left the label in 2004 without releasing an album.
