Mixtape Release Dates: 50 Cent, Raekwon, Birdman & Mack Maine
Raekwon has a special Christmas gift for fans, as Glasses Malone gears for an Ice Cube tribute, while Birdman and Mack Maine announce the first mixtape of 2012.
It's hard to tell the difference between a mixtape, FreEP, and street album these days. Just when an artist announces a new "project," we aren't sure where this project is going, will we have to pay for it, and often times when will it finally arrive. As we approach that grand old Christmas countdown, there are some audio freebies to tuck into your iPhones and keep you entertained while older family members get knocked out on eggnog.Today, Tyga delivers his "#BitchImtheShit" mixtape. Guess that means we won't see a December 20th release of Careless World: Rise of the Last King like we planned on. Tyga's been dropping tracks off here and there, the most recent being a "Rack City." It's easy to forget sometimes that Tyga is part of Young Money. It's not that he's overlooked, but his affiliation often is, despte the fact that he was one of the earliest members of Ca$h Money's offspring empire.
Speaking of Ca$h Money, Birdman and Mack Maine will deliver a New Years Day mixtape called "Billionaire Minds 2." Affectionately referring to themselves as "White Boyz," these two executives already dropped a "Billionaire Minds" mixtape last month. Talk about working overtime...even on holidays. It's good to know that Lil Wayne's work ethic trickles upward to the businessmen of YMCMB, who take the work from the boardroom to the studio.
In other holiday release news, Raekwon brings "UnExpected Victory" on Christmas Day, December 25th. The Chef tweeted about it last week, and it will become a reality in just a few short weeks. We've been bumping that Dope On the Table EP with Andrew Kelly as a suitable substitute for new Rae material. Now we'll have some new Wu to enjoy. Raekwon has been on a few releases as of late, including "Bed Piss" off Vado's "Slime Flu 2."
Before all of that happens, 50 Cent comes through with "Big 10" on December 9th. Fif has been handing out tracks like "Stop Crying" and "What Up Gangsta Pt. 2" as of recently, along with his tons of Street Energy tracks. Curtis shares this date with Ace Hood, who finally announced a date for "The Statement 2." Ace Hood dropped the Rick Ross cut "Realist Livin" a few weeks back, along with "Trap Star" last week with Glasses Malone.
Glasses is also still hard at work on his Ice Cube tribute mixtape "Cold As Ice." No word yet on a release date, but stay tuned.
