The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 11/28/2011
Jeezy wins again, while remixes and mixtape cuts from this past week (including Drake and B.o.B.) all make up for the difference.
Before diving into this week's Top Singles list, an important point must be made. This past week a Jay-Z track surfaced titled "Tower Heist," which was supposedly going to be used for the Eddie Murphy/Ben Stiller film with the same name. DX posted the song, but after careful listening, the track was just a recycled Jay-Z cut. Despite it reaching the top of the charts this week, we didn't feel it was right to credit a track that already existed under a different name. So, to keep it clean and fair, that song was eliminated from the list despite it residing right at the top. Onward and upward.Young Jeezy Proves He Has Alot of Important Friends
For a while there, we weren't entirely sure if Jeezy's upcoming album would see the light of day. After so many pushbacks, "The Real Is Back 2" mixtape dropping in September in place of the album, it seemed like TM103 would arrive in 2012. Well, so far so good, and it will most likely be at the top of some Christmas lists. For now though, the leaks are at the top of our charts. Last week, Young Jeezy rocked the list by reaching #1 with his Thug Motivation 103 track titled "I Do" with Jay-Z and Andre3000. This week that track moved down to #4. However, at the tippy top of the charts Jeezy strikes again. "Talk To Me" made it to #1, yet another leak off December 20's TM103. The track features Eminem and CTE affiliate Freddie Gibbs. Most of what we've heard from the album have included some A-list collaborations. It's good to know that Jeezy gets some heavy cosigns still. He also has the skills to prove he doesn't need these other guys around, but adding to his tracks is a definite plus.Los Angeles Takes Over Drake's Single, While B.o.B. Gets an E.P.I.C. Hit
We promised we'd stop discussing anything Take Care related, after beating Drake's album to the ground over the past few weeks. However, it's impossible not to discuss the L.A. remix of Drake's track "The Motto" in at #7 this week. Snoop Dogg and Nipsey Hu$$le jump on this remix and completely own it. Whether you love Drake or hate him, he makes the kind of music that has other artists eager to partake in it. Whether it's working an instrumental (remember all of those "Marvin's Room" remakes?) or tacking on some lyrics to making a roundabout remix, people like hopping on Drake songs. You know who else likes hopping on songs? T.I. The Grand Hustle kingpin added an extra something to B.o.B.'s "Boom Bap" off his recently released "E.P.I.C." mixtape. The song also features Mos Def, meaning the track must have been made prior to Mos' renaming himself Yasiin Bey. Call him what you want, but he's good at what he does, and the proof is in the #3 song this week. The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 11/28/2011
