Tony Yayo On G-Unit: "I Made That Brand"
Tony Yayo responds to recent 50 Cent comments about his career.
When 50 Cent was discussing Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks in March, the G-Unit leader said "some people, they're like milk. They have expiration dates." Tony Yayo responded to these comments today (April 16) with a Twitter update.
"As much bullets I took for Gunit. My moms crib shot up almost killed my sis and my niece. Now I'm compared to milk. I made that brand," Tony Yayo says.
During the March interview, which was conducted by New York radio station Power 105, 50 Cent also addressed Yayo specifically. “I’ve done a lot for him to the point that being personable with people they’ll feel like that homeboy code, guy code type of energy,” 50 Cent said. "They’ll be like, ‘You know what? You got it so you should give it to me,’ versus what makes sense. If you don’t sustain your value in the marketplace, I got to pay you the market rate."
50 Cent and Tony Yayo have gone back and forth several times. In February, Yayo said "50 ain't rockin' with me" in a social media comment. 50 responded with the following statement to Billboard.
"I had a wonderful journey with the people I grew up with," 50 Cent said of G-Unit. "I think the frustration comes from shock, probably, that it's not everything they wanted it to be. [Tony Yayo] of all people… It's not a secret. It's a known fact that he actually came home from jail with a million dollars and a Bentley. Like, ‘What do you want?' These guys are millionaires. They've made millions of dollars. Why do that then? Whenever there's no one to blame, you know what game you play, [for] a look. I don't know what the goal was."
Yayo's most recent Twitter post is below.
