Faith Evans Reveals Biggie Duet Album "The King and I" Plans
Faith Evans says to expect unheard music from The Notorious B.I.G.
Faith Evans spoke to HipHollywood about her upcoming duet album with late husband Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace.
“I’m also starting to work on a very special musical project between me and Big,” Faith Evans says in the interview. “It’s something I’ve been thinking of doing for many, many years. I finally got all my ducks in a row to make it happen.”
Evans says The King And I album could be released within the next year. She says the music is reminiscence of soulful acts of the past.
“I would say think Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole, Unforgettable, in that vain,” Evans says.
Evans says the album will feature music that has not been released yet.
“It is definitely unheard music,” Evans says. “Unheard music in the presentation of it.”
Puff Daddy released a Duets: The Final Chapter with Notorious B.I.G. in 2005.
B.I.G. was murdered after attending an event at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles in March 1997. Faith Evans and B.I.G. were married at the time.
Evans recently spoke about the timeless qualities of Notorious B.I.G.’s music.
“I didn’t understand the impact of Big [and] Big’s music until just like everybody else,” Faith Evans said at the time. “You know, just like a fan. I didn’t get to preview it or anything like that. It’s just something about the way he was not only able to put into song and into rhyme these gully experiences of his. He was so comfortable with who he was, but he still knew like ‘Whatever, I’m hot. When I go in the booth it’s a wrap. And I know I’m hot.’ It’s just crazy cause I still hear—When you hear a Biggie record right now, it doesn’t sound like it's 18-years-old. Just something about it has that timeless appeal, which people today are still using him as a reference of how to do it. Even newcomers right now, so that says a lot."
