Vybz Kartel Charged With Murder, Conspiracy & Illegal Possession Of A Firearm
UPDATE: The dancehall artist, who was initially arrested for marijuana possession, was charged with the murder of a 27-year-old promoter.
Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel was arrested on Friday in New Kingston, Jamaica for marijuana possession along with three other persons in his company.
According to the Jamaica Observer, the artist, whose real name is Adija Palmer, is currently in custody after police discovered a body at a St. Andrew house that he frequents. He is assembling his legal team to deal with the charges.
"What he has essentially been doing is putting his legal team together, which is myself, Michael Deans, and Christian Tavares-Finson," said his attorney Tom Tavares-Finson.

UPDATE: After his arrest last week, Vybz Kartel has officially been charged with murder. According to The Canadian Press, police issued a statement stating that the dancehall star was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Cops claim that Vybz conspired with others to kill a 27-year-old promoter who was murdered on a street corner earlier this year.
The singer has been previously arrested for assault and illegal gun possession, though they were both later dropped.
