DJ Mister Cee Announces Move To Radio 103.9
DJ Mister Cee announces his move to a newly reformatted radio station less than a month after his departure from Hot 97 in November.
Less than a month after resigning from his post atHot 97DJ Mister Cee has announced that he will be taking a job at the recently reformatted Radio 103.9.
In July, Radio 103.9 launched its new urban format with news that comedian D.L. Hughley and morning show host Tom Joyner would join the station.
Mister Cee released a statement to XXL about his latest move.
“I AM EXCITED, HUMBLED, & BLESSED TO BE BACK ON THE RADIO WITH THE NEW RADIO 103.9 IN NEW YORK. TO BE A PART OF A NEW GROWING STATION GIVES ME A FRESH START IN MY RADIO CAREER,” Mister Cee said. “SPECIAL THANKS TO KEN JOHNSON & RAPHAEL GEORGE FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY. ALSO A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANDREW VERAS AKA DOMINICAN DREW FOR PUSHING FOR ME TO BE A PART OF THE RADIO 103.9 FAMILY, I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET IT.”
The longtime radio host hinted at the possibility of working at a new station upon his departure from Hot 97 last month.
"I would love to continue to be on radio if the opportunity arises," he said. "I would love to do radio whether it’s on-air or [other] programming. I would love to take a shot at being a program director or a music director at a radio station. I would love to continue to be in the music industry in any form. If an offer came to me in regards to working at a record label, depending on the situation, I would love to. Music is in my blood. I’m still going to DJ parties. I’m still booked up to DJ parties."
In 2013, DJ Mister Cee left Hot 97 after being arrested for soliciting sex with a male prostitute before returning to the station shortly after.
“Have I lied about getting sexual fellatio in a car with a transsexual?” he said in an interview with Ebro Darden shortly after. “Yes. I have lied about that. I feel bad for the listeners that it did take a video for me to say this because I have been in denial with this for a very, very long time, a very long time."
"“Do I consider myself gay?” he later said himself. “No. I don’t consider myself gay.
Mister Cee's departure from Hot 97 was the latest in a string of major departures from the station. Longtime personality Angie Martinez left in June in a move to rival station Power 105 FM. Former music director Karli Hustle also left the station this year.
